At Jaglicious, we make our own Date Palm Jaggery from traditionally harvested khejur sap in Murshidabad, Bengal. By staying closely involved in sourcing and production, we focus on consistency, purity, and quality from the start.
To validate the standards we claim, our jaggery has been independently tested by Equinox Labs, an NABL-accredited food testing laboratory.
No vague marketing language. Just certified food analysis backed by measurable results.

In plain language: at 25% NRV for Iron and 28% for Potassium per 100g, our jaggery legally qualifies for the "Source of" claim under FSSAI rules (threshold: ≥15% NRV). A single teaspoon (10g) provides 0.36 mg of iron and 99 mg of potassium — modest per serving, meaningful over a day of cooking with it.

In plain language: every tested contaminant came in well below FSSAI permitted limits. Most were below the lab's detection threshold. This matters because traditional jaggery production can pick up heavy metals from poorly-maintained equipment or contaminated soil — ours doesn't.

4. Preservatives & sulphur

In plain language: we don't use sulphur to bleach our jaggery, and we don't use preservatives. Most "sulphur-free" claims in the market are unverified — ours is below the lab's detection floor. Practically, that means none.

What we claim — and what we don't
We hold ourselves to FSSAI's labelling rules and ASCI's advertising code. Here's the line we draw:
Claims we make (because the numbers support them)
- ✓ Source of Iron (3.55 mg/100g = 25% NRV)
- ✓ Source of Potassium (991 mg/100g = 28% NRV)
- ✓ Sulphur-Tested (< 10 mg/kg, well below the 70 mg/kg FSSAI limit)
- ✓ No Added Sugar (< 1g per 100g)
- ✓ No Preservatives (benzoic acid + sodium benzoate both < 10 mg/kg)
- ✓ Naturally Fat-Free & Cholesterol-Free
- ✓ Naturally Sodium-Free (2.32 mg per 100g is below the 5 mg threshold)
Claims we DON'T make (because the numbers don't support them yet)
- "High in Iron" or "High in Potassium" — these need ≥30% NRV per 100g. We're at 25% and 28%, close but not over the line.
- "Source of Calcium" — at 13.7% NRV, just under the 15% threshold.
- "Organic" — we don't hold NPOP certification yet. Jaggery is made from naturally grown Date Palm trees, our farmers don't use synthetic fertilizers or pesticides on khejur palms.
- "Purest" / "Finest" / "Best" — We let the numbers speak instead.
